Features to know about

Stronger Hitch for Everyday Use: Class I with 2,000 lbs GTW and 200 lbs TW

This Curt Class I hitch is built from fully welded, square-tube steel and rated for 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. That’s plenty of strength for light-duty towing, small trailers, or a bike rack setup. The heavy-duty construction gives you confidence that what’s behind your vehicle is staying put wherever you go.

Easy Install at Home: Bolt-On Design with No Welding Required

You don’t need special tools or a lift to get this hitch mounted. It bolts directly in place using the included hardware—no welding involved. The precision, robotic welding ensures a consistent fit, which makes lining it up and tightening it down straightforward for a DIY project in your driveway or garage.

Built to Last Through Weather and Road Grime: Dual-Layer Powder Coat Finish

The gloss black powder coat finish sits over a protective base coat to keep rust away and the hitch looking sharp. The coating seals out moisture and road salt so the steel underneath stays solid year after year. Clean up is simple too—just rinse off dirt and it’s ready for the next trip.

Ready for Common Accessories: 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" Receiver Opening

The 1-1/4" receiver size works with standard Class I accessories like lightweight cargo carriers, bike racks, and drawbars. Whether you’re hauling gear for a weekend trip or attaching a small trailer, the receiver gives you the flexibility to add what you need when you need it. Drawbar, pin, and clip are sold separately so you can choose exactly what fits your setup best.

Finally finished the install today. Went pretty-much by the book with one important exception: YOU MUST REMOVE THE BUMPER COVER TO GET A TORQUE WRENCH ON THE 18MM NUTS THAT CONNECT THE HITCH TO THE RECEIVER. No way around this. I tried for hours with crows foot and different wrenches. Getting the bumper cover off is not that bad if you know how. R+R the bumper cover adds about two hours to the install if you KNOW HOW TO REMOVE WITHOUT TEARING TABS. NOT TRIVIAL. Lots of bad information and incomplete instructions on YouTube about removing the bumper cover. Be careful not to tear the loops on the cover. After screws are out, tail lights are out, wedge screwdrivers on either side of the black fixtures underneath the tail lights and release cover from these fixtures THEN pull cover toward back of vehicle not up or out. Use silicone spray if you like. Otherwise youre like me and buying special adhesive for polypropylene and suffering with a bumper cover repair. Yuck.

Hi @ClaireH, Curt should be asked to amend their instructions for the BMW to include the bumper cover removal and replacement. Instructions include the requirement to torque the bumper carrier nuts to 82 ft-lb. Which is totally appropriate for an M12-1.5 nut/stud combination and must be done to ensure that the hitch is firmly attached to the car. It seems especially important to put a lot of torque on these nuts given that you need to compress 7 (or 5, can't recall now) washers on the stud. These washers act as a spacer between the bumper carrier and the hitch receiver. A spacer is needed to ensure a solid mechanical link here. However, the only way a mortal mechanic can get a torque wrench on these nuts is to remove the bumper cover. This adds about 2 hours to the 1 hour install currently quoted by Curt and would probably require that Curt provide instructions on how to R+R the bumper cover. The other vendor you have for a BMW hitch receiver quotes a much longer install time (don't recall what that is now). Perhaps they acknowledge that the bumper cover must come off the BMW in order to get those nuts at the proper torque.

I drive a BMW 325 XI and threw this hitch onto it. Once I go it wired up I drove from Dayton Ohio to Waco Texas to purchase a 16 foot fiberglass boat. The drive was 16 hours one way and the hitch was superb. It was sturdy, well built and installed professionally. Needless to say I am a HUGE fan and would certainly recommend this hitch.

Easy Install and Rock Solid

by:

Terrific fit on my 2011 BMW 328i, just feels solid! I honestly think it installed like a factory fit! Took me about an hour and a half to complete it with a trimming of the little panel in the center underneath.

by:

Easy to install! All the parts and instructions for a quick diy hitch. Could not be more impressed with quality. Still holds up today and will for a long time to come.

Very good product. I use it to carry my wife's electric scooter chair. Only issue was installing it required a tool I and my son did not have, and we have lots of tools. I had to take it to a shop. It was installed on a 2006 BMW 325i

by:

Very poor packaging, resulting in damage to the tow hitch they did not have a bubble wrapped and allowed to steal to bang around while in the box so unprofessional the packaging was terrible

Great price. I saved a bunch of money on the hitch itself, and the ease of installation saved money as well. The hitch is very sturdy and I have never had need for concern about the longevity of the product.

Thanks for sharing that information, Daniel! I know this will be helpful to someone else down the road who has the same mod and in need of a hitch!

by:

First, the service was tops as it arrived in two days. I installed this hitch on my 2011 BMW 328xi sedan. It was nice to be able to download instructions before I ordered the hitch to make sure this was all making sense. I installed the hitch the same day it arrived, knowing that I studied the instructions thoroughly. I must say, the fishwire hardware was the bomb. the whole install took about an hour or so, taking my time and trimming out the under panel properly so that I would look nice and clean. I'll attempt the wiring next.

by:

Very fast shipping. The website is easy to navigate and the quality of the hitch is excellent. I keep coming back because of the great service. I installed the hitch to mount a bike rack on my BMW 3-series for a road trip.

by:

I actually had to Modify the Hitch to Fit my Car because I have the Dual Exhaust Model. BUT it Turned Out Great & I knew while Ordering I would have to Modify it. The Hitch looks GREAT Under the Car

As you can see there are no BMW models on this list so I cannot confirm fitment on your 2006 BMW 325I. You can try comparing the measurements below to your frame to check fitment. • What Trailer Hitch Fits The 2011 BMW 335i Sedan With Dual Exhaust?
Hello Nolan, thanks for getting in touch. The Curt # C11033 is only for the 328xi Sedan, so this is not going to fit a 2011 BMW 335i Sedan. The only hitch for the 335i Sedan is the Stealth hitch # SH44VR and # SH88VR. I know they are more expensive, but if you need a hitch it is your only option. Both will fit the dual exhaust model. The # SH44VR comes with the rack receiver only. If you intend to tow a trailer, get the # SH88VR which comes with the towing kit.
